Aside from honor, there are plenty of perks for being nominated—at least for the 25 Oscar nominees in the acting and directing categories. Among them is the “Everyone Wins” Nominee Gift Bag valued at over $100,000, including decadent vacations, VIP memberships, jewelry, and luxury beauty products. This is the 17th time Los Angeles-based marketing agency Distinctive Assets has assembled this unofficial Oscars swag bag. And despite the already settled lawsuit for trademark infringement in 2016, the gift bag remains one of the more exciting celebrations around the year’s biggest awards show.
What distinguishes the 2019 gift bag from previous years is a broad selection of cannabis products. This “is tied to the legalization of cannabis in California.” said Lash Fary, founder of Distinctive Assets. In the name of etiquette, the organizers refused to share the bag’s exact value but added that it was in the six-figure range. After all, this is more about applauding talents with “fun and festive” gifts than “boast[ing] an impressive value,” noted Fary.
While I would hardly describe dental floss as “festive,” others may beg to differ.
